The client was buying this property in Robina. Like any sensible buyer, he wanted to do his due diligence before investing a considerable sum of money. There was an existing report from a building inspector who also provide a pest inspection report. Rather than rely on that, the client contacted Gold Coast Pest Inspector for a thorough inspection and report.
Richard’s inspection was as comprehensive as you would expect. The important difference between what Richard did and the previous inspector is that Richard crawled into the sub-floor. We can’t be sure that the previous inspector didn’t do this but given the old spiderwebs Richard pushed through and the wood borer damage that was missed…well, we’re making some assumptions.
The buyer was glad he’d contacted us. Armed with the knowledge of the wood borers, he passed on the sale, avoiding an expensive error.
The seller wasn’t happy with us. That’s something we can live with. We’re not here to pander to the interests of sellers. Our job is to be thorough and report on what we see. She gave us a 1-star review on Google
I would not recommend the Gold Coast Pest Inspector services based on my experience during the sale process of my property.
Technically, Angela can’t review us on Google because she’s never used our services. We have appealed this review to Google. Hopefully they take it down but if they don’t, it will be a testimony to our independence. We represent our client’s interest, in this case the buyer, and no-one else.
Building inspectors are great at what they do but when it comes to pest inspections, get a pest inspector. A building inspector who tries to do pest inspections is unlikely to have the depth of knowledge required to report on pests.
We're not saying they were blind but let's just say they missed some obvious signs. This is very common. Richard is constantly finding signs of termites other inspectors missed.
It can expensive to treat wood borer and to remediate their damage. You need to know about the presence of such things before committing to purchasing a property.
